Our first read aloud will be “Wonder” by Raquel J. Palacio. We will be participating in the SCDSB Read Aloud Program. We will be connecting with other classes in Simcoe County to discuss our thoughts about his book. Looking forward to reading together.
Welcome to our class blog where we will be sharing our learning and wonderings!
Today was a day for us to celebrate Mrs. O’s birthday. Thank you for all you do for us!
Today our class began learning about why Orange Shirt Day is important. We read “When We Were Alone” and started talking about the legacy of Indian Residential Schools for First Nation, Metis, and Inuit people. We then connected the 7 Grandfather Teachings to our learning. Each student wrote the teaching they connected with most from our discussions. The majority of the students picked “Truth.”
On Friday, September 22, students and staff at the SCDSB are encouraged to participate in Orange Shirt Day by having conversations regarding residential schools and wearing an orange shirt.
